Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi called for combined security forces to take control of the war-torn Kurdistan region at a press conference in Baghdad on Tuesday, declaring intentions to "protect all citizens and the Kurds". Al-Abadi called on "Kurdish Peshmerga forces to participate in the extension of security on the disputed areas", adding that claims of Iraqi forces killing Kurdish citizens are "false rumours". The global Food Security Cluster in collaboration with its partners Welthungerhilfe and the German Federal Foreign Office initiated a video project to raise awareness on partnership and coordination. We conducted interviews with national and international partners in Bangladesh, Iraq and Mali to better understand their views and needs towards strengthening local partnership and collaboration for improved humanitarian coordination. Despite different contexts, partners shared similar experience and stressed the importance of involving local actors in humanitarian coordination. They do better understand the needs and aspirations of the affected communities.

China and Iraq agreed Tuesday to establish a strategic partnership during the on-going visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to China. The two countries issued a joint statement to the effect in Beijing, saying that the strategic partnership will help deepen bilateral cooperation in various field and promote development and prosperity in both countries. On March 7, 2013, the Chamber's US-Iraq Business Initiative hosted a delegation of Iraqi provincial officials, including the Governor of Salahuddin, in partnership with the National Defense University's NESA Center for Strategic Studies. A series of three panels were held in the morning focused on how to promote greater U.S. investment and commercial activity at the provincial level in Iraq.
